Scope and Limits of the extensions

Postby Modestus on Sun Jan 31, 2010 4:07 am

Greetings!
This is a great extension.
Am presently testing it on a localhost arrangement and it works fine. That is for the 4 languages we use!
Initially, was misinterpreting the scope of the extension, since some material speaks of translations;
whereas, the extension (hope I am closer to the truth with my present understanding) does NOT do any translations !
As the extensions site prime description claims, this extension simply
QUOTE
"This is a simple Plugin to enable the selective display of multi-language content using a drop-down box and language markup-tags in your content."
UNQUOTE
All the translations are / have to be done by us, which we then enclose within the language tags;
and automagically, what gets to be displayed are only :
the content without any language tags, and
the content within the selected language tags .

I believe that the documentation should be made clearer, so as to discourage the visitor/potential user from reading in to the documentation their hopes and aspirations, and later expressing their frustrations!

Please keep going, and extend the functionality to within section/category descriptions and the other areas to which this tool does not reach as yet.
All the best

Hi Modestus, while you said you are successfully implement the extension to use 4 languages without problem. I am wondering about that if you are using Joomla 1.5 or 1.0?

I have problem in J1.5 as the Default langiage (in my case, English) was also displayed on top of the selected language, together with the tags ([en] and [/en]).

Any hints will be highly appreciated.
